Data Prevailing winds blow from the West in this area and, there are frequent floods on the coast. The air is too dry. Rainfalls represent 250 annual millimiters and there are no snowfalls. Therefore, the general appearance of the soil is arid. The sea water temperature is mild, as the shores are bathed by the southern end of the warm current from Brazil. In general, this kind conditions are categorized as “plateau arid weather”. Rainfalls range from 200 to 300 annual millimiters. There are no snowfalls. Winds from the West and South are almost constant. The sea water temperature is cold. The sea and the mountains help moderate the weather. In Ushuaia, the southwestern wind prevails, at an average speed of 15 km/h and maximum speeds of 100 km/h, with longer quiet periods. Near the Beagle Channel, it is usually cloudy. This is a foothill and mountain range area. There is a transition strip between the plateau and the forest, where rainfalls become more and more abundant. There are also important snowfalls. The mountain range moderates the winds.

Zone Northern Patagonian Lakes High Negro River Valley, Neuquén Río Negro Southern Line
Data The weather changes from very humid at the mountain range (the areas where the highest rainfall annual index in the country is recorded are included in this region) into humid at the border with the plateau. Rainfalls increase towards the West. There is plenty of snow in the winter. Rainfalls go from 200 to 400 mm per year. There are no snowfalls. The prevailing winds blow from the West. The topographic differences must be taken into account, as the weather is more moderate in the proximity of the rivers and more arid and cold as one gets closer to the plateau. This kind of weather is cold and very arid, with rainfalls of less than 200 annual millimiters (much less in some points). Therefore, this area is transformed into one of the most arid regions in the country. The winds blow almost constantly, prevailing from the West and South.
